In the past athletes especially the male athletes used steroids but stop them using before certain time period of competition. This technique proved very successful but very soon federation came to know and a new test testosterone ratio testing was started for this to make competitions fairer.

In recent testing age, detection capabilities of steroids are in .25 mg. this means use of steroids can be detected even it exists in the form of quarter part per billion.
