Tips On Good Nutrition. Why Is Nutrition Important
What you eat – or your nutrition is so important, because without proper nutrition our body will eventually get exhausted, and we will eventually fall ill. Maybe you will just catch a flu but maybe it will be something more grave, like getting cancer or getting a liver disease or even heart disease.
So what is proper nutrition? How can we know if we are eating good?
Well, an easy way to find out if you are eating healthy, is to look over your eating habits a little. When did you last eat a piece of fruit? Do you eat salad every day?
Fruits and greens are sure the best sources of vitamins and minerals and phytochemicals there is.

Fresh veggies and fruits are full of antioxidants, which are vitamins and minerals that fight off free radicals that damage cells. Damaged cells can lead to some types of cancer, so it is very wise to make sure you get enough nutrients in your food.

As you probably knew, they now recommend five fruits and vegetables a day.. which is perfect!
These five fruits and veggies should be whole fruits or vegetables and not any type of juice.
It is too bad, some say that one of the five fruits or vegetables can be replaced by some juice. This advice is not very wise though. If you drink juice sometimes it’s ok, but don’t do that instead of eating fruit. Juice is many times pasteurized (warmed) to give it a longer shelf life, and when they do that, it sadly loses a lot of the really healthy stuff. Juice is also much higher in calories than whole fruit…
On the smoothie and fruit juice bottles it sometimes says something like: “This bottle contains 1 apple, 5 strawberries, 2 carrots” etc. But don’t be fooled by this. Make your own fresh fruit juice at home instead!
Great tips to get you to eat healthier:
- Avoid adding sugar to any of your meals, avoid salt, avoid junk.
- Eat lots of greens and fruits every day.
- Make one meal each day a salad and another meal can be your favorite fruits.
Go ahead and start your day with fresh fruit. If you do that you don’t have to think too much about it anymore that day. And if you forget to eat more fruit later that day, it’s not that big of a deal.
Think about this: you could always take a fruit with you when you go out of the house each day. That way you will probably eat your fruit rather than buy a chocolate bar when you feel you want something small. And when you are home again you could make a fruit salad before dinner. That way you should for sure have all recommended servings of fruit covered – if not even more..!
